In the Malt Room Gallery: Decoy Ahoy!
In this exhibition Bob Billington and John Plowman, who each have their own take on Modernism, extend the role of the decoy beyond mere camouflage – morphing instead into a conversation between their works where the juxtaposition of Modernist techniques creates a dynamic tension challenging preconceived notions allowing the decoys to lead you into new realms of understanding.
In the Cafe: A Quiet Life
Suffolk based artist Elaine Nason is a genre painter and printmaker who has a focus on pattern, space and ‘looking through’.
Elaine was at Colchester Art School between 1955 and 59, and encountered as tutors the likes of John Nash, Alistair Grant, and Derrik Greaves. Elaine is an admirer of the early work of Stanley Spencer, and the title of her exhibition reflects her interest in the domestic and commonplace.
