The Cut has been at the heart of Halesworth since 2003, bringing together performance, visual arts, cinema, dance, creative learning and community activity within a beautifully restored Victorian maltings.
We are looking for someone who believes that creativity can strengthen communities, improve wellbeing and create opportunities for people of all ages.

Why This Role Matters
Many people living in rural East Suffolk experience barriers to participating in arts and community life.
Limited public transport, an ageing population, rural isolation and fewer opportunities for young people all affect participation.
This new post has been created to help address those challenges.
Working with the Centre Manager, colleagues, artists, schools and local organisations, you will develop projects that bring people together, create opportunities for learning and participation, support artists and celebrate local culture and heritage. You will also provide practical support to the Centre Manager in the day-to-day development, coordination and delivery of The Cut’s programme and activities.
About the Role
As Creative Engagement Coordinator, responsible to and working closely with the Centre Manager, you will:
- support the Centre Manager with programme coordination, partnership liaison, communications, digital promotion and other operational priorities as required.
- develop creative engagement projects across East Suffolk;
- build partnerships with schools, colleges, businesses and community organisations;
- encourage and support participation by children, young people, families and other community groups in The Cut’s creative activities;
- help develop and deliver initiatives including The Summer Project and the James Holloway Youth Arts Fund;
- help coordinate community participation and engagement;
- collect evaluation and project data to demonstrate impact;

Working at The Cut
The Cut is a small, friendly organisation where ideas are welcomed and initiative is encouraged. Working closely with the Centre Manager, you will combine responsibility for developing creative engagement with practical support for the wider operation and programme of the arts centre.
You will work with a committed team of staff, trustees and volunteers alongside artists, performers and community organisations who share a passion for creativity and making a positive difference.
This is a chance to help shape a new role, support the Centre Manager in the effective running and development of The Cut, and leave a lasting legacy for communities across East Suffolk.
The Person We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- enjoys working with people and building partnerships;
- communicates confidently and sensitively;
- has initiative, is self-reliant and flexible;
- is comfortable working closely with the Centre Manager and providing practical support across a varied programme and day-to-day priorities;
- has good digital skills and confidence using standard office software, online communications and social media;
- is organised, proactive and creative;
- has experience in community engagement, arts, education or project management;
- is enthusiastic about developing new ideas and opportunities;
- believes that creativity should be accessible to everyone.
Experience of fundraising or project development would be an advantage but is not essential.

Halesworth is a thriving Suffolk market town close to the Heritage Coast, with an active creative community, independent shops and a strong tradition of volunteering and community action.
The Cut is proud to play a central role in the cultural life of the town and surrounding villages, welcoming thousands of visitors each year and working with partners across the region.

By the end of your first year you will have helped to:
- establish new community partnerships
- create opportunities for children and young people
- expand community participation
- support local artists and creative practitioners
- develop new projects
- strengthen The Cut’s role as a welcoming, inclusive community hub, while supporting the Centre Manager in delivering the wider programme.
